Hypo Tirol VT celebrate impressive win

Last year's silver medal winners Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK claimed on Friday night the much anticipated MEVZA Cup clash with arch-rivals Posojilnica AICH/DOB in straight sets (25:19, 25:21, 25:14). Both sides caught a perfect start to their campaign in the 2016-2017 MEVZA Cup, but had to cope with disappointing setbacks before Christmas. Now Austria's champions are back on track. They are fourth in the standing on nine points.

In Ljubljana the currently second team Bystrina SPU NITRA (SVK) cruised to commanding 3:0 (25:20, 25:23, 25:18) win over Calcit Volleyball KAMNIK (SLO). Hosts Mladost ZAGREB had to stand a tough fight and needed two hours to edge their compatriots and reigning croatian champs Mladost Ribola KASTELA 3:2 (25:21, 27:29, 25:20, 26:28, 15:7). Marko Sedlacek scored as many as 28 points for the hosts.

The regular season will resume on Friday among others with the all-slovenian match between MEVZA Cup leaders ACH Volley LJUBLJANA and Calcit Volleyball KAMNIK.
